I will do my very best at not being a total sap throughout this post, but just know that I love this couple like a whole amount of lots and stuff.
I can't claim to have had a hand in the matchmaking process, but I think I always knew they would end up together. I did offer to take their engagement photos after they had started dating. I think maybe they were two or three weeks in...
I've known them both a collective ten years, and in those ten years, I have never met anyone like Katey and Jacob. Except for Katey and Jacob, if that makes any sense.
Case in point, yesterday I did a search on a few dating websites for people who listed "biology, nerddom, chemistry, test tubes, or science" and "bluegrass, Burt Reynold's mustache, The Mark McCauley, Flatt and Scruggs, or phosphor bronze" as interests. Annnnd didn't find a soul.
They are meant to be.
See for yourself.
Katey bought everyone coffee, including me! Too sweet! :)
The best man, Kasey, was holding the real ring. LOLZ.
The flower girl, Katey's niece, was cooperative and patient all the way up to when the pictures started. This photo still makes me laugh.
I told Jacob and his parents that Katey's makeup artist called me "Juicy Boobs" all morning. They thought that was really funny. Lord, I love these people.
Katey and Jacob opted not to do a reveal before the ceremony, but they still wanted to "see" eachother. This was quite possibly the cutest one I have ever captured..
Any photographer in this area knows that Williams-Memorial Chapel is a nightmare to shoot in. This was my fifth wedding at the chapel. The bride and groom worked with the theater department on campus to adjust the lighting (they too noted its morgue-ish appearance), and brought life into the chapel. Made for some pretty awesome, and less frustrating, images!
The Reception was a perfect postlude to the ceremony. There was two-steppin' and cake-eatin', and tear-wipin', and lots of smoochin' and huggin'. And there was plenty of "-ing" without the "g". What a blast!
Katey and Jacob let me ride in the floorboard of Jacob's truck all the way to Subway! All three of us hadn't really eaten anything all day. We were very happy to be heading towards food.
The After-Party was at a local favorite, Vintage Paris, a place where I have many a time had coffee or shared a tobacco pipe with Katey and Jacob. There was cold beer and wine in a chilled canoe, vintage cigars and pipes being passed around, and of course, good old-fashioned bluegrass music, played and sung by the bride and groom themselves. Accompanied by a few of their old bandmates and good friends, Katey and Jacob plucked tunes like "Jolene" and Rocky Top".
Katey. Jacob. Thank you for allowing to be a part of your wedding, your families, and your lives. I love you, kids!
